Vulcan Baseball Diamonds get a Face-lift

Times like these are certainly changing athletics in our community.  We are unable, due to restriction set out because of Covid-19, to have any team sports as of May 27, 2020.

We are hoping to salvage some of the season but that will depend on when AHS (Alberta Health Services)  eases or lifts the restrictions on gatherings and sports.

In the meantime, Channing has sent out an email for information from your team, the answers to these questions will help us get going faster when we do get back on the fields.

While we are unable to play on the diamonds the Town Maintenance and Recreation crews have been busy, here is an update on Recreation in the Town of Vulcan.

Right now we are working on the CCHS diamond. We are leveling out the field, adding shale, replanting grass, remeasuring and replacing the bases. We are also adding a safety rail on the top of the fencing to keep everyone safe while playing ball.  The Town has also added two new outdoor washrooms for the CCHS diamond which I know we are all happy about. When the work is completed it will make this diamond a welcoming place for all users.

In time, both the Virginia Mitchell ball diamonds will be treated to some new shale, leveling, replanting grass, and remeasuring and replacing the bases, along with the safety topper for the fencing.

I think you will agree that we are making the best of this down time to improve the safety and usability of the ball diamonds so that we have these fields in top shape for when we get back to ball.

Recreation is very important for the mental and physical health of our community, so along with the expansion of our hospital, the town is enjoying a boost in the Recreation sector too.  The more we are out and active the healthier we will be.

Here is list of the 2020 Recreation Project that are on the go this summer.  These projects would not have happened without financial and community support and commitment that we have enjoyed from our community members  and community groups.

Look what we are doing together!
